VIENNA IS DIFFERENT// WIEN IST ANDERS

Summer, sweating and heat - the perfect time to write about something that happened
during the snowy days of january this year.

We were supposed to work in groups and take photos for a class project on the topic
WIEN IST ANDERS (= VIENNA IS DIFFERENT)
which is the slogan of our city.

I had a lovely group to work with (three other girls from my class).
Every group had something to focus on as
old cafes, places you wouldn't expect in Viennapast/present

My group's specific theme was sculptures and buildings.

Our project began and we spent two days freezing in the ice cold Vienna in order to take suitable pictures.
And indeed we did, here are some of my personal favourites:

Enjoy!

Sculptures are very often to be seen on facades in Vienna, that's why I use to say
"Vienna is where the buildings live and the streets breathe."
("streets breathe" because there are many windy places in this town)

Places in Vienna you can see on the photos: Schloss Belvedere & Innere Stadt (Stephansplatz)

Through this project I learned how much inspiration, interesting and fascinating things you can discover by just changing your view a little bit.

The next time you're outside try to look at the buildings around you, look up (carefully), right and left, notice what your city is telling you.

Whether you suffer from a creative block or not, I'm sure this is a great opportunity to find new inspiration or at least something new you haven't seen the same way before.

Cheek to Cheek

For my first post I decided to include one of my biggest inspirations: Lady Gaga.

But let's start this differently.

I live in Vienna, the beautiful capital of Austria and I absolutely love it here. Vienna is where the buildings live and the streets breathe and the drinking water is always refreshing coming directly from the Alps.

Another fantastic fact about Vienna is that it constantly offers many events and you can attend a lot of them for free! Here's a short description of one of these events:

Every year in the summer a huge screen is set in front of the city hall and there are lots of seats on which you can sit on to see movies, operas, concerts,... Apart from the seats the whole square is filled with stands selling different kinds of food from all over the world, one smelling better than the other!

For me this is the perfect place for a summer night out.

Now coming back to the one and only: Lady Gaga!
Since 2011 I have been a huge fan of her and now she is one of my biggest inspirations.
I have already touched her shoulder once (but that's another story I might tell in another post)!
I think it was last year when the Jazz Album Cheek to Cheek by Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga was released.

And now imagine how excited I got when I realized that the Cheek to Cheek Live Performance would be broadcasted on the huge screen I told you about!

The show was amazing. I can't describe my love for the combination of Lady Gaga's and Tony Bennett's voices in the style of Jazz. Some may be suprised - Lady Gaga and Jazz?!

Well,

"The lady herself is not just a chameleon in person, but a chameleon in Music."

She also looked stunning in all the outfits and what touched me was how happy she looked, as if what she is doing is someting she truly enjoys.

My favourite songs from this album are Cheek to Cheek, Anything Goes, It Don't Mean A Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing) & Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down).

The show ended with It Don't Mean A Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing) and since this song is one of my favourites it was the perfect ending for a memorable evening.
